Application

BM 172HT is a copper alloy containing 2% beryllium and conforming to RWMA Class 4 specifications. It exhibits high hardness and exceptionally high thermal conductivity. This alloy is recommended when high wear resistance due to extreme compression is desired. In addition to its strength, fatigue resistance, corrosion resistance, and non-magnetic properties, BM 172HT is ideal for manufacturing specialized components for Oil & Gas, aeronautical and plastic industries. It can be acquired with specific heat treatments for each application.

Examples of applications include cavities, inserts, and other components in plastic molds, neck rings and bottom plates for blow molds, plunger tips in aluminum high-pressure die casting (when using an abrasive alloy), welding electrodes, electrical/electronic components, bushings and moving parts for the aeronautical industry, components for transoceanic telecommunication systems, and oil extraction and propulsion systems (Christmas tree).

Manufacturing Process: Extrusion / Forging.
